Tobin Hart: Growing the Integrative Mind

11/16/2015 , No Comments

Tobin Hart, Professor of Psychology at the University of West Georgia speaks on the importance of how we know rather than simply what we know. He notes that altering school curricula and assessments will not necessarily close the gap between what kids learn in the classroom and the “core capacities” they will need to succeed in life. An educational system that honors imaginative, subjective and empathic ways of knowing— in addition to objective and deductive approaches—he suggests, can promote more balanced, integrative thinking.
