  1. Call our toll free number at 1-855-726-1607
  2. Enter your unique Client ID
  3. Select the language you need to be directly connected to an interpreter.

Getting to an interpreter using your phone is really as easy as 1-2-3.

How will your interpreter know our processes?

It is very important that our clients understand that you cannot just transfer the non-English speaker to us. When using over the phone interpreting services, the requestor or client must remain on the line in order for the interpreter to communicate the information and vice versa. Since they are calling you, all you do is conference the interpreter to make the communication happen effectively.

Are you available to offer over the phone interpreting 24 hours a day 7 days a week?

Yes. MWS offers telephonic interpreting all year long, including holidays, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What are some useful tips when working with an over the phone interpreter?

  1. Speak in first person as you would if your were not using an interpreter. Use a clear tone with a consistent and natural pace.
  2. Be sure to introduce the interpreter and their role to the non-English speaker.
  3. Remember everything you say will be interpreted. So be mindful of side comments or conversations.
  4. Please pause between long sentences, this will allow the interpreter to capture all of your message.
  5. There will be paused while the interpreter is converting the message, stay focused and be ready to continue upon the interpretation.
  6. At times, an interpreter may need to request clarification, as the other language may not have an equivalent terminology or concept.
  7. You are in control of the conversation at all times. The role of the telephonic interpreter is only to interpret. They cannot give you any opinions or suggestions.
  8. You are welcome to ask the interpreter & the non-English speaking client questions to ensure your communication.

What if I do not know what language they speak?

Please visit our Resources page, for a variety of tools to help you communicate with the non-English speaker while you locate an interpreter. If you have the non-English person in front of you. Use our Language ID brochure and have them point to the proper language and then use the telephonic interpreting  service. If not, once you call our toll- free number, press 0 for an operator to assist with the language selection for the call.
