MasterWord is a top provider of healthcare language solutions. MasterWord Health works in all languages, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Rapidly changing demographics pose ever-shifting challenges to health care language support programs. While standards for culturally and linguistically appropriate care have been established by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Health and Human Services’s CLAS Standards, The Joint Commission and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, many providers are unclear as to how to best meet these standards. Compliance experts at MasterWord can partner with you to build a robust and compliant program.

MasterWord offers comprehensive healthcare language solutions and works with our clients to determine their specific needs and develop individualized programs to help them meet and even exceed compliance standards for communication access. We work to increase the quality of care and successful outcomes, while reducing costs, liability risks, and barriers to quality care. We consult with our clients to identify and access existing language resources, and then supplement them with MasterWord’s professional healthcare interpreters, medical translators and training programs.

MasterWord helps healthcare providers to ensure linguistically and culturally appropriate services in compliance with:

Statutory and Regulatory Language Access Requirements:

Specific Application to Language Access*:

Executive Order 13166 Requires federal agencies to examine the services they provide, identify any need for services to those with limited English proficiency, and develop and implement a system to provide those services so LEP persons can have meaningful access to them. Also requires that federal agencies work to ensure recipients of federal financial assistance provide meaningful access to their LEP applicants and beneficiaries. Meaningful access is defined as language assistance services that result in accurate, timely, and effective communication with the LEP individual.
Title VI Prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Failure by a recipient to provide meaningful access to LEP persons can constitute national origin discrimination.
Affordable Care Act Section 1557 Covered entities must provide information about communication assistance. Entities must post taglines informing the LEP public of the availability of language services in the top 15 languages spoken by LEP individuals in the relevant state or states.
Executive Order 12250 Requires that federal agencies coordinate their Title VI enforcement efforts under the guidance of the Federal Coordination and Compliance Section of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
