Civil Discovery Workshop: Depositions and Documents

Learn the processes, procedures and documentation that make up the civil discovery process of Texas Civil Procedure in this master class. After an introduction to the civil lawsuit and the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, learn the timeline of the civil discovery process with an emphasis on the deposition as well as the focus taken by the plaintiff and the defendant. This course includes guided practice in language pairs to develop skills in translation, sight translation, and back translation.
Become familiar with the terminology and definitions used in documents and in statements expressed during discovery. Work groups will practice with educational texts, translation tools, and multiple standard documents from actual proceedings in hands-on sessions.
This course has been pre-approved by the JBCC for 8 hours of continuing education and for 8 ATA continuing education points. (FAQS: Continuing Education/Renewing your Court Interpreter License).
Please note that this course is open to all bilingual interpreters and legal professionals; licensure through the JBCC is not required to attend.
