40HR ASL Intensive Medical Interpreter Training

The 40HR ASL Intensive Medical Interpreter Training provides intense, skill-centered training to meet high standards set for medical interpreters today. The techniques and tools provided can be immediately applied to enhance interpretation skills. This course is only taught in American Sign Language.

4.0 BEI CEUs and 4.0 RID CEUs in Professional Studies have been approved.

You must attend the entire 40HR ASL Intensive Medical Interpreter Training to receive credit. Class schedule is as follows:

Friday, August 3rd 5PM to 9PM
Saturday, August 4th 8AM to 5PM
Sunday, August 5th 8AM to 5PM

Friday, August 24th 5PM to 9PM
Saturday, August 25th 8AM to 5PM
Sunday, August 26th 8AM to 5PM

with a one-hour break for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Course Trainers

Cody Francisco

M. Cody Francisco, CDI is a native of Jenks, Oklahoma and brings over 14 years of professional interpreting experience. Cody was born into a family of 7 children and became profoundly deaf at 8 months old as a result of Spinal Meningitis. He attended Oklahoma State University for his Bachelor’s in Human Resources: Organizational Development. He also attended Rochester Institute of Technology and obtained his Bachelor’s of Social Work and Master’s in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus in Deaf Studies and Counseling. Cody is an adjunct professor for several Interpreter Training Programs. He is actively involved with the Deaf Community as well as the Interpreting Community. Cody is also a representative for Region IV of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. During his free time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He currently resides in Houston, TX.

Cory McMahon

Cory McMahon is a state and nationally certified interpreter with 10 years of professional interpreting experience. Cory is native to the Midwest/ New England area having lived and worked in 9 different states. Cory attended Valley Forge University and has held various positions at two schools for the deaf. He has been actively involved in the interpreting community having served on the local RID board in Rochester New York, presented at conferences both on the local and regional level, as well as worked at Rochester Technical institute for the Deaf (NTID) and Rochester Institute of technology (RIT).
