MasterWord celebrates the announcement of our CEO, Ludmila Golovine, as the California Healthcare Interpreting Association’s (CHIA) 2021 trainer of the year for her contributions as an interpreter trainer, mentor, and advocate. Her efforts to educate interpreters about vicarious trauma and stress promote health and wellness for those working in the language services industry.
Since 2015 Ludmila has presented on this subject at IMIA, CHIA, CCHI, ALC, TAHIT, TSID, Women in Localization, NCIHC, and delivered numerous presentations to interpreter groups around the country. She led the creation of an online version of this course, and on-line tools that interpreters can download and use to mitigate stress during an interpretation encounter.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she launched a podcast series to help mitigate additional stress that interpreters were facing due to COVID-19, and recently she launched training on trauma-informed interpreting. They are available on YouTube, which can be accessed using this link: https://bit.ly/2UM0S1g
