Too close to the screen, not good for the eyes.
Hunched over, bad posture, back pains.
Leaning forward, bad posture, leads to hunched back.

Linguists spend a lot of time in front of a computer, in a car and on their phones. In addition, not all of us have time or energy to work out.  Sometimes we say “Oh, well… It is not a big deal!” Think about it though.  Don’t’ you want to look and feel your best? It is safe to say that the answer is “YES” for most of us.

Even a very expensive outfit will not look good if your posture is bad.  Just stop for a second and observe what your posture is like right now. If you are sitting, for example, is your head straight and not tilted up or down? Are your shoulders relaxed?

Poor posture doesn’t just affect the way we look. It also will have a lot of negative side effects such as bad circulation, chronic fatigue, and back, neck, and shoulder pain.

What should we do to improve our posture?

First, let’s just start with determining the cause of bad posture for you.  Is it stress, weak muscles, or may be foot problems?  Next, see what you can do to improve it.

Check out these do’s and don’ts to see what your posture should be when you are sitting, standing, walking, running or sleeping. When you know the cause and what the correct posture is, you can take the necessary steps to improve it. Exercising will strengthen the muscles, which will help by holding your body in the correct position. If you practice proper posture every day, it will become a habit eventually, and you will see how much better you look and feel.
