On Monday, January 25 the second annual Wellness Connection Workshop  took place, with collaboration from Friends of Integrative Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center: “Decrease Stress and Become More Present: The Power of Meditation and Exercise” was  a special presentation by Dr. Alejandro Chaoul, Associate Professor and Director of Education, and featuring Carol Eddy, Senior Physical Therapist, both from MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Center. This presentation is designed for language professionals to deliver strategies for maintaining our optimal physical, mental, and emotional health.

Topics covered were:

  • Stress management techniques using meditation, breath and exercise
  • Mindful eating

  • Registration: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Program: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Q&A: 7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

This event was co-hosted by MasterWord Services and the Friends of Integrative Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.


Dr. Alejandro ChaoulDr. Chaoul has extensive experience in the area of mind-body practices, both academically and in clinical practice. Since 1999, he has taught in the Medical Center, particularly at MD Anderson Cancer Center, conducting classes with cancer patients and their families as well as teaching at the Rothko Chapel, the Jung Center, and the Esalen Institute. Dr. Chaoul is the author/co-author of various articles and book chapters, focusing on the role of mind-body practices, as well as Tibetan meditation. Additionally, his research and publications focus on mind-body practices in integrative care, examining how these practices can reduce chronic stress, anxiety and sleep disorders and improve quality of life and cognitive function

Carol Eddy is a Senior Physical Therapist at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Integrative Medicine Center.


Continuing Education Units were approved by ATA (1 CE point) and BEI (0.2 CEUs)
