In response to Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, MasterWord has effectuated an immediate moratorium of all business activities involving the companies owned or controlled by the government of Russia, Belarus, or their instrumentalities, and businesses that invest directly in such companies.

MasterWord recognizes the rich contributions that individuals of Russian and Belarusian decent have made to the cultural, political, and economic fabric of the United States, and acknowledges that individuals bear no responsibility for harmful foreign activities of the Russian government. 

What is the purpose of this moratorium?

MasterWord supports the actions of the global community and the United States targeting the core infrastructure of the Russian and Belarusian financial systems, impairing their governments’ ability to use their economy and financial systems to further the invasion and occupation of Ukraine.

Why is Belarus included in the moratorium? 

Belarus allowed tens of thousands of Russian troops onto its territory, enabling armed forces to mobilize in Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine. Therefore, the United States and its allies have imposed strong sanctions on Belarus in response to the invasion, targeting the core infrastructure of the Belarusian financial system.

What does this mean for individual Translators, Interpreters and Independent Contractors?

If the Language Professional has dealings with the companies owned or controlled by the government of Russia, Belarus, or their instrumentalities, and businesses that invest directly in such companies, MasterWord has opted to suspend the use of all services they may provide.
