The Localization Engineer develops solutions for handling complicated technical projects and workflows to support ongoing and new business.

Status: Full-time

Location: Remote U.S.

General Duties

Project Management

  • Provides project-based technical support to Operations and Sales teams
  • Writes scripts to automate repetitive tasks performed by project managers
  • Researches, validates and drives implementation of relevant new features of CAT tools
  • Analyzes websites and applications for localization potential and challenges, identifying the required processes and steps for their localization
  • Analyzes various file types for compatibility with CAT tools and parsing, and prepares them for localization
  • Participates in quotes for localization projects for sales and production
  • Assists project managers and vendors with troubleshooting issues related to technology in the translation process
  • Creates documentation and training for team members, vendors and clients, and provides training if needed
  • Reviews and provides QA for localization deliverables
  • Actively maintains industry familiarity and research localization trends and tools

Resource Management

  • Identifies needs and budget for the upkeep of the exiting technology and new technology needs
  • Manages users of TMs (Memsource and XTM)
  • Maintains TMs

Client-Facing Responsibilities

  • Participates in client calls at the steps of bidding, project planning or troubleshooting as needed
  • Communicates with clients regarding technical details or issues with projects as needed

Required Qualifications

Localization Engineering Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Localization or Computer Sciences, or another degree and relevant experience
  • 2 years of experience as a Localization Engineer
  • Expert knowledge of industry standard localization tools and related technologies (TM, TMS and MT tools).
  • Expert knowledge of scripting and markup languages and various file types (e. g. Python, C++, Perl, ASP, Java; XML, HTML, XLIFF)
  • Knowledge of various Content Management Systems
