Interpreter Orientation Process
Upon successful completion of the interpreter testing and screening process, the new interpreter is enrolled in a MasterWord Services’ Interpreter Orientation Program. This orientation program is held as often as deemed necessary. During the orientation, the interpreter is required to complete any outstanding paperwork and is given an overview of MasterWord’s interpretation processes and resources. The MasterWord interpretation processes include a discussion regarding MasterWord’s philosophy on the role of the interpreter within the different industry settings that we support, the less invasive role of the interpreter for our medical clients, and the need for establishing a good rapport with our oil and gas clients. MasterWord interpretation processes also include the specific procedures required by our clients in the performance of services. An example of such a procedure is the process of checking in with the court coordinator before a court interpreting session.
Other MasterWord Interpretation resources include our semi-annual, professional development seminars, MasterWord’s Yahoo News Group for Interpreters, and online resources and tools. In addition, all MasterWord interpreters are made aware of our affiliations with industry bodies and are encouraged to actively participate and enroll in local or regional professional organizations. Finally, MasterWord’s professional interpreter responsibilities, code of ethics, and confidentiality agreements are reviewed in detail and signed. Interpreters are also made aware of all proper administrative processes necessary to make invoice receipt and payment as efficient as possible.
