Fighting Homelessness among Veterans

By April 11, 2012In the News

Within this past week, exciting news of the Houston Housing Authority receiving $890,000 grant toward fighting homelessness for veterans was announced. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded the grant to strengthen the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (HUD-VASH), in which the HHA participates as the third largest member in the nation.

The funding is attributed to the President’s new released budget proposal to end veteran homelessness in mid-February.

MasterWord is equally committed to HHA’s promise of providing assistance and care for veterans. During a disaster relief call responding to the fire of Bellerive high-rise apartments on November 26, 2007, MWS was able to dispatch interpreters and translators of multiple languages to facilitate communication between HHA staff and evacuees.
